Hemlingby

On Sunday, during the brief daylight period before the Julbocken invigning, we decided to check out the local ski area in Hemlingby.  I was pretty sure I knew where we needed to go, but it was a little odd heading for a ski hill and not seeing anything resembling a mountain (or hill for that matter).  The road “up” to the hill wasn’t particularily challenging as I only needed the low gear (I only have 2 gears) on the bike a couple of times.

Once we got to the “top” we checked out some of the animals at what appeared to be a small children’s petting zoo and then went and checked out the downhill slopes (plural because you can go to the left or the right of the lift).

Then we checked out the cross-country ski trails.  They look quite nice and are well marked; there are a number of trails from 5-15km.  We look forward to going back (probably on the bus when we have our ski gear) when the snow finally falls.  While there isn’t snow yet it’s definitely cold enough (around -6 at the moment) so hopefully soon!

Catherine decided that we needed some natural Christmas decorations around the apartment so while she was the one who "obtained" them I got to ride around with the evidence in my rat trap.

  1. Wow. Scary downhills. Almost as scary as the Toronto ski hills. You’ll do some wicked shredding there once the snow comes.

I love bringing in the greens – brightens things indoors, and they smell so darn good.
