June had nice weather and in along with some garden action, there were also some nice visits.
Warmer weather made for longer walks, and with short sleeves!
We had a writting camp at Linda’s cottage at thestart of June, here she and Kai Le are making breakfast
Pretty nice breakfast buffet
It coincided with Linda’s birthday, so we also had chocolate cake!
A croched linen ‘wasp nest’ meant to deter wasps. I also gave one to Mum for her balcony
Linda has been renovating her cottage room by room, and this bedrooom got a recent upgrade of a new feild looking out over the hayfield
Lupines are invasive in Sweden, but poeple find it hard to uproot them because they are so pretty. I do my part by picking a lot.
Almost like a dianthus, these little fuchsia fellows had no smell
Midsommer lunch with all the classics!
…including great company!
We also took time for the first lake swim of the year
Of course, June also includes Graham’s birthday. Given that it was a weekday, we had a pretty simple lentil dinner… but of course also cake! For the first time I made a ‘pinnochio cake’, which I have also heard called ‘Mamma cake’ and ‘Britta cake’. It is not actually that tricky to make, and uses all of the egg yolks and whites, and is pretty tasty to when piled with whipped cream and strawberries it lands somewhere between a pavlova and strawberry shortcake. Seems he liked it!
