Mega-snö

Local kids love sledding in our backyard. It is not the longest hill around, but it is the closest to get a few toboggan runs in before dinner.

Stockholm is colder than Vancouver, but not as cold as Saskatoon (not by a long shot.) I am one of the few people who moved to Stockholm for the weather. We get snow every winter, but it is pretty variable and according to all the old folks there is a lot less than there used to be, and a lot fewer ski days in city limits. Happily, this year is a snow year! It was warm and mild up until Christmas, and the New Year’s brought snow… and it kept coming. We’ve had snow on the ground and in the trees continuously since then and we’re coming up on Valentine’s day. There have been a few days above freezing that glassed up the surface, but then that froze into a hard crust and more snow kept dropping on top of it.

So far its been great. It keeps things bright and lovely, without wet feet or muck. Eventually it will be a slippery mess when it starts to thaw, but until then I’m enjoying the winter vibes.
