Another Christmas season in Sweden, perhaps a bit of a blessing to be here in non-Canadian surroundings so as not to feel as keenly the gap and loss of a first Christmas without my Mum. We still celebrated the season in a low-key way with some baking and subtle decorating.
Swedish style star lamps, plus the victorian garland of tabby cats carrying Christmas puddings
Cold windows make for blooming orchids
Some low-key Christmas decorating
We had a cookie baking spree
…and hosted friends for fika, complete with Mum’s Christmaskitty tablecloth
Ris a la Malta with clementines and pomegranate seeds
Sweden of course carried on with its julstämmning in the usual way.
Special santa mailboxes have been installed for domestic Christmas cards
I took these for Bernie, since she likes the pastry case at Tegnérs
…now fully decorated and stocked for Christmas
Linda kindly welcomed us to Hammartorp for another Christmas season, and we got to have a chill change of scenery and some great hangouts with Linda, Liyun, and also little toddler Skye, who was great fun passing out gifts, dancing by the tree, and reading by the fire.
