We have arrived back ‘home’ in Sweden 23 hours after leaving my parents’ house in Whonnock. We were very lucky to bypass delays in Heathrow, it snowed like crazy while we were there but we got in and out with limited delays. Once again, the biggest problem was the trains. Our train from the airport to Gavle creeeeeeped along because it was so icy.  Three out of four bags made it to the baggage carousel, but happily we got the bags with the Christmas treats and the skis.  On getting home we unpacked some of our Canadian goodies and now will settle in for a good night’s sleep so we can use our well-packed skis tomorrow on the many centimeters of snow that fell while we were away.

Thanks so much to all our friends and family for the holiday fun and visits.  We had a great time and we look forward to seeing you again (always welcome to come visit us!!!)

  1. I figured the Christmas treats would be long gone by the time you travelled – but what a great thing to have during train delays. Is train/travel food in Europe as comparatively-wretched as it is here?

And I assume the final bag did arrive eventually?

Also: i love the braided (?) duct-tape handles. I am planning my packing for NYC now, and am committed to doing it with some camera equipment and WITHOUT checking a bag. We’ll see.

Maybe I need some duct tape.
