Refice is a metropolis, with a massive business centre, swamp-side favelas, and lots of traffic in between. The Boa Viagem nieghbourhood has been popular with domestic tourists for a long time, and lots of locals go for a run on the paved path or do chin-ups along the beach. The break is not much good for surfing (forbidden anyhow) and there are shark warning signs, but there are lots of people sunning themselves, running on the sand and taking a mini-dip.
